Integration Planning
floating fish feed production line
A floating fish feed production line quote is not interchangeable with a livestock pellet-mill chart. Decide species, pellet size, formulation and whether the feed should float, sink slowly or sink rapidly, and name the water-stability test, before treating two bids as the same extrusion cell. Cooling and bagging must handle the same agreed production duty as the extruder; a dryer nameplate is not that list.

Input checklist: Upstream
Name species, pellet size in millimetres, formulation and whether the feed must float or sink. State the water conditions and test duration used to judge that behavior. Missing float time is an open line, not a copied brochure claim. A pellet mill quotation alone does not establish an aquafeed process.

Control boundary
Ask which operations sit inside the quoted duty: grinding, extrusion, drying, coating, cooling and bagging. Compare density, water stability, fines and final moisture using an agreed sampling method. Include coating in the trial when it forms part of the finished feed. Ask who adjusts the recipe during development and who documents the final operating window.

Downstream
After SAT, who owns the recipe window, coating oil circuit and spare dies? If cooling or bagging cannot match the agreed extrusion duty, the first bags will not represent the sold product. FAT may use a similar formula; SAT should repeat the agreed float or sink test on the buyer’s recipe at the destination plant.
